blue and blooms
Our clients came to us with a tight triangular block on Collaroy Plateau, a site with no real outlook, neighbours on every boundary, and a house that felt dark, boxed-in, and out of step with how they wanted to live. What they needed was something more generous, more grounded. A family home that would meet their needs now and into the future; practical for a young family, and comfortable enough to stay long term.

We reimagined the house as a relaxed, Hamptons-inspired retreat, full of light, texture, and carefully layered detail. The layout was completely reworked to open up the floor plan, bring in the light, and make space for connection and for allowing quiet. Deep verandas and balconies offer protection from the afternoon sun while creating natural outdoor edges for pausing and gathering. Privacy was carefully managed through the placement of openings and screens, allowing the home to feel open, yet quietly shielded.
A formal double-height entry sets the tone; a statement piece detailed with wainscoting, patterned tiles, and natural light pouring in from above. From the moment you walk in, the feeling is one of quiet confidence and refined calm. That rhythm continues into the central living zone, where a raked ceiling opens up over the kitchen, dining, and lounge areas then extends outward to a covered entertaining space with an external fireplace and full outdoor kitchen. The transition from inside to out is seamless, designed for slow evenings, big gatherings, and everyday ease.
Inside, there’s a softness to every decision. Window seats offer moments of stillness and reflection. A generous walk-in robe adds ease to the everyday. The materials of timber floors, warm trims and classic detailing make the house feel grounded, settled, and ready to age well. Blue and Blooms is more than a renovation. It’s a forever home, crafted with care and designed to hold a lifetime of everyday moments.
